I’ve been to this site before but just became a member. I just placed a wanted ad. I’m hoping someone out there will be able to help me find a chrome “Javelin” trim piece for my restored 1956 30 hp. The only year produced. I feel like my whole project is for naught since I can’t find what I did with one of them.
November 30, 2019 at 6:58 pm #188306Identifying what part number you are looking for will help in your search. If you don’t have a parts catalog for your motor there is currently one for sale up on ebay…. but i’m sure someone else in the group will have a scan of that page with the cowling they could share.
Here is the link for the parts list up on ebay:

December 1, 2019 at 10:31 am #188356I have the catalog and the part number. What I need is a source to purchase it from. My thoughts were that Johnson -OMC would no longer carry or shelf this particular vintage part in inventory. I’ll check it out. Thank you .

Welcome Larry! While it is true, you won’t find NOS pieces like that from OMC/BRP…. But, the correct part number will surely help. I would put an ad in our classified page also, and look on ebay, you never know what you might find…
December 1, 2019 at 7:26 pm #188393Larry – try calling Pine Lake Parts at 269-290-7317. They will sometimes have hard to find parts. Another source might be 2040-parts.com. Trying to find that emblem by itself may be tough without having to buy an entire cowl but you never know.

And yes, I may well have to buy the entire cowl but one never knows (especially in my world) when I might need a spare.😁
December 1, 2019 at 10:55 pm #188398In some correspondence I had with Pine Lake Parts earlier this year, he still had some NOS parts dating back to the 1930’s and 40’s, so you might just get lucky.

December 1, 2019 at 11:44 pm #188402I just sadly discovered my DropBox account has been eliminated – a victim of changing Email address, Telephone number and password at the same time. I thought I had it nailed down, but all the files I so painstakingly transferred to the new account disappeared with the termination of the old account. SO SORRY
