Don’t think you will find a new 6V starter while 12V starters are readily available on EB and reasonably priced.  You really should get the bracket for 12V.

Ty olcah, I now have everything i need, flywheel from a 57, starter bracket from a 57, starter, solenoid, also picked up a carb that has the choke…… So I think i am ready to add when I get done with my 54 5.5hp. FYI I also have a 12v generator  bracket, and belt, but I don’t think I am going to install that (yes the flywheel has the notched gears on the top for the belt) , not so sure it’s worth the trouble

I used about 50 gal of gas last summer and charged a car sized battery maybe 2 or 3 times.    A single charging would have been enough.  If all you are doing electrically is starting your RD-18  no reason to add complexity/weight of a generator.  I just remove the battery from the boat occasionally and charge it ashore.
