Google "Wico 5/8" magneto coil". I bought two for the same motor last winter. If you are patient, you will find them at reasonable prices.
August 15, 2017 at 7:52 pm #63165brillman.com has them if the price works for you.
August 15, 2017 at 8:23 pm #63167I have heard of people cutting down the center pole of 5/8" laminations to fit 7/16th coils. Never done it myself but would expect it to work if done carefully. But with 5/8" coils apparently available for around $40 it might not be worthwhile.
Wico made a very large variety of flywheel mags. Only a few seem common on outboards but bear in mind when buying on ebay, etc.
August 15, 2017 at 10:32 pm #63179Richard – I just recently also bought a Scott Atwater fuel tank off ebay and have not received it yet. Needless to say I do not have a fuel line at this point and as such I do not have the connectors for either end. After I get the tank I should be able to determine what if any connector is attached to the tank. My motor has the male end so I would be looking for the female end that would attach to the line itself, on both ends of the fuel line, I assume? I will try to include a picture…Being new here we will have to see if it works!
As for any other spare parts you may have for this motor I would be very interested in trying to acquire them from you so please just let me know.
Also thanks to everyone on here for being so helpful, very thankful I found your site.
August 15, 2017 at 10:39 pm #63181Jim – Mine is a FW2255, not at all sure what if any difference there may be between the two. Also appreciate your willingness to part with your connector. If the mags are interchangeable I would be very interested in buying it from you, please let me know. I have received a couple quotes on the mags ranging from $50.00 to $85.00 each, points and condensers between $15 and $25.
August 15, 2017 at 10:42 pm #63182Try Russ Larson in Nebraska He has Martin Coils which are 5/8" posts for some of the models. He is the go to for Martin parts.
August 15, 2017 at 10:57 pm #63184Here is something not yet mentioned… You can, if your not a "purist", use ANY pair of connectors you want, so long as you mount one end on your motor and the other on the tank…even the pressure tank fittings will work if you get creative. You can use Clinton connectors even, any of the modern ones as well, it just does not matter to the motor, to you though this may not be acceptable. This is only if you are not able to get the ones you want for this motor. Your motor your call.
Good luck, btw I pulled the carb out, it is complete Tillotson MD43B, even has the plastic knobs, fuel pump appears complete as well
Best

classicomctools@gmail.comAugust 15, 2017 at 11:16 pm #63186Rich – Mine is a tillotson MD85A. Again no clues on the similarities or differences.
I am very inclined to keep this as original as possible if I can find the correct period pieces. So I would still be interested in any connectors you may have that are original. Thanks Again!August 15, 2017 at 11:22 pm #63188Brian – Which series off of brillman would be the correct ones to match up with this magneto?
August 16, 2017 at 12:30 am #63191Getting the Martin or Brillman coils would be the best. My mag will not match your crankshaft and collar. I think its from a 7.5 hp.
Send me your address in a pm and I will send the spare connector.
