Ok I fixed my recoil problem with a donor and it’s running pretty good in the barrel. But what are these 3 holes for in the lower unit? I drained the grey milk out of it and was gonna put more oil in but I can see the grey milk oozing from these holes. The donor 7_1/2 hp looks to have the same LU and the holes are present there also. Do I just get the marine grade grease from NAPA (The thick stuff) and roll with that? Or go to the trouble of checking for bad seals. I don’t know if they were designed to hold the 80 weight type oil or if they had the grease type. Trying to get it going for my neighbor to duck hunt out of on a 12′ boat. Any thoughts are appreciated

The 12 hp lower unit doesnt exchange with the7.5. It has roller bearings and possibly a different drive shaft length. If nothing comes out of the prop shaft seal it can be used. Just change lube frequently.
