Okay so for a complete Useless fellow, what size of tap mumbles and when you have the bolt threaded in in picture two, how do you back it off so you just dont unscrew the bolt from the new threads?
Thanks
July 9, 2023 at 11:48 am #277908I think I used a 3/8 X 16 tap, not sure. Might have been a 5/16 X 18 though. Just use whatever fits best as you don’t need really deep threads, just enough for the bolt to get some bite.
The bolt is threaded into the filter and then held still with a wrench while tightening the nut with another wrench., which will draw the filter out.

July 16, 2023 at 10:41 am #278098One more question, what type of epoxy would you use to hold the filter to the connector?
July 16, 2023 at 3:03 pm #278119you can always remove the tank filter and install one in-line between the valve and the carb the small red ones should do … tons of them on Amazon

July 16, 2023 at 5:14 pm #278124Thanks Crosbyman, but the brass fuel line from the tank to the carb is pretty short and not really lends it self to adding a filter.
July 16, 2023 at 6:11 pm #278125Years ago I had a similar issue with a brass tubing and managed to replace the “carb side” to adapt to a fuel hose.
I used a automotive brake line and threaded fitting which fit perfectly in the carb threads .
I simply cut the brake line then reverse the short…. cut end…. and reflanged it on the carb side … added some jb weld and voilà hose nipple
except I don’t remember what I did on the tank valve… 🙁 🙁 but it worked. a rubber hose instead of a brass tube …. which you can cut and install a filter
automovie brake lines and end fittingss come with diff. sizes thread wise so if you choose that option pick the proper thread size

Belzona is my epoxy of choice these days but JB Quick Weld works.
