1957 7.5 lower crank seal

Hey guys

on a ’57 7.5 [model 7522] does the lower crank seal go on dry or does it need to be soaked in oil or covered in grease?

Asking because it’s cork.

The cork washer is only part of the seal. It should be glued to the metal washer with some sort of gasket cement. The rest of the assembly is oiled.
