      That’s an acceptable starting point.  Compression may come up after it’s run a little.

        I have everything I think I will need to get it going including powerhead base gasket and impeller,coils ect so I may as well keep going on it. Just a little disapointed on that low of numbers. There was some light scoring marks in the cylinders but nothing I could really feel.

          Those compression numbers seem pretty “normal” to me, these are low compression engines.  It is easy to pull off those intake bypass covers on the stbd side of the engine to have a closer look at the pistons and rings.  I wouldn’t attempt to remove the exhaust cover, unless this is a fresh water engine and all the screws will loosen without assistance from the torch

              Have everything but the impeller and carb done and should finish tomorrow but doubt I will be attempting to start it till Spring. Thank you everyone the helped on this!

                Our pleasure…  These are great old engines. Simple, run nice, and rugged as long as you stick with the 16:1 fuel/oil mix….
