I have a 1957 FD-11 18 hp motor with a damaged skeg. I was looking to get a new one for it.  The parts manual just gives you a number of 377117 for the whole lower assembly. Can anyone tell me the part number for just the skeg? <!–more–>

They were machined together and ideally shouldn’t be interchanged/mismatched. I have heard of people using a replacement skeg from a donor motor and have not heard of catastrophic failure. So, depending on your level of comfort there, it could be an option.
Personally, I would try it if the only alternative was to source a complete set of gear case halves……..unless it was a complete mechanical/cosmetic resto.

This my experience with mismatched halves
It did not work after 5 tries
I have not done this but-
I would cut off the damaged skeg portion and weld a skeg from another gear case
