I am replacing the prop shaft bearings on my 1957 Scott Atwater 16 and was wondering what the torque spec was for the nut that holds the bearings against the races? Is there a preload and then back it off or just a general torque for that?

      Thanks

I don’t think this answers your question, but is the closest thing I
        could find on the subject.

Thanks for the info! Is that out of the Volume 2 Scott Atwater service manual? I just got mine in the mail today and have not had a chance to look through it.

It’s funny they didn’t add more torque specs for these motors and parts in the Manuals. They don’t make it easy to find either. It seems like it’s just a general guide vs an actual step by step how to.

Someone harvested the information from a “Outboard Manual” and put it in pdf.
Those manuals had good information, but your manual will probably have
            more in detail.
Post photos of your progress on the Scott if you can, it may help someone out
            to see the parts!
