I need a steering bracket for a 58 Fastwin I am working on because it fell and a part broke.

I looked on eBay and could only find a 59. It shows 2 different part numbers in the parts book but darn they look extremely close. Anyone know if they are comparable?

Anyone have a parted out 58 that can sell be the bracket?

      Thanks as always!!!

I’m thinking that they would fit between exhaust housings okay but there may be a difference in the length of the throttle shaft, that goes in said steering bracket. You may also need to get the throttle shaft? Just going by the seat of my pants here.

          Long live American manufacturing!

The steering bracket from a ‘57 J/E 10 HP is the same part number as the Fastwin, #376837. The ‘56 10 HP is a different part number but might work also. I’ll have to physically compare the two. If it is the same I could sell you one from a ’56 10 HP parts motor I have. sdpiazza@aol.com

Thanks all for the responses. I found a welder who can weld the piece back on, so I am hoping it will be fine.

If not, I will contact you all and maybe work something out.

                Thanks again….

Careful with welding – those castings are very porous and don’t weld very well. A good welder can do it with patience. Just forewarn him…

The welding came out great. The guy I use is the one most go to get their Aluminum boats repaired.

He is also one of the only guys who will take on the small $10.00 jobs so guys like me can continue on with a cool project.

So I can now happily continue this adventure and get the cowl looking nice.

Chinewalker…any luck finding that Lark cowl you might have? 🙂 😀 😯 😮

Haven’t had a chance to get back up the storage building. At one time, I had two ’56 Lark cowlings kicking around. Not sure where either got off to… 😯

I do have the carry handle for you, though. Off a red Johnson, if that isn’t an issue for you…
