Mumbles you are 100% correct about Ralph Evinrude’s life-long friend , Brooks Stevens having something to do with the 1950s motor design. I have been researching this for a couple of years and have supporting material that he designed the Gale, OMC motors , starting in 1948..pictures ,options, etc. Stevens was a very talented man as was his team and influenced so much of industrial design,.
May 24, 2016 at 11:49 am #37057I know this may sound like Crazy Talk….but there are still some great people in the world today. 😀 I could not find a pic of that strap clip and cruising on eBay I found a cowl for sale with one on it. I messaged the man and asked if he would take a pic for me and he did.
He has tons of sales and could have easily blew me off but didn’t!! I am truely appreciative of his time and effort.
I re-worked my Medallions. They are not the greatest, but better than what I have seen as far a repops go, so until I find a real nice original set these will do. They had perfect chrome on them, but the tape somehow grabbed it andsome came off when I removed the tape 😥 😥
Here are some pics.

May 26, 2016 at 10:49 am #37183I have 3 factory new emblems in stock. Maybe its about time for a E-Bay bidding war. Lol
And to just confirm the dia. of these; they are 2 1/2 inches. I had originally posted a pic of these on the old forums about 5 years ago.May 26, 2016 at 6:26 pm #37195PM sent…we don’t need no stinking war LOL
May 28, 2016 at 11:55 am #37250Does anyone have a Bigtwin that has the medallions on it and provide me some measurements?
Diameter, measurements between mounting holes, both top to top, and a top to bottom.
Much appreciated if you could 🙂

I just checked the parts box on those new factory 1958 medallions; part # 204312 fits the 35hp that I have in stock. That’s why the mounting holes on the medallion do not line up to your engine size.
Sorry,

Your very welcome Thom. I do not try to sell my parts as to being accumulator, who hopes someday I would run across units that need them, or when guys come in for repairs on the older stuff; I have it. I do have the electric dash emblems for the 1958 yr, with the black outline and 3 black tab locks on them if you run into one in the future.
