I have a 35HP Johnson that I am restoring. This motor has a generator and I was wondering if the generator accessory was purchased with the motor, was there is a dash plate that includes a hole for the amp meter? Or was the amp meter installed somewhere else on the dash. I have never seen a dash plate that accommodates an amp meter but that does not mean it doesn’t exist.

In short, how did they setup the dash in 1958 to accommodate the generator accessory?

the ammeter unit mounts in the big hole in place of the fancy medallion.

Shouldn’t be too difficult. The 58s have a keyed start and the plates are easier to find than the 57s. I have one I will sell you if you can’t find one.

Plates are fairly common, the ammeter is a little more difficult to get a hold of

thank you opposedtwin. What do you want for it? Does it include a working ammeter?

I’ve got a couple of varying condition. Send me a PM if you don’t find one you want. No ammeter, unfortunately.
