The pages were torn up, I tried to erase the scotch tape and wrinkles. . . 🙂 🙂

Thank you Chris. I know a Harley Parts guy so if you can let me know what that part number is, I may be able to get one from him.
Although looking at this box of wiring, relay, fuses etc, I don’t see how a regulator would even fit.

Not a Harley parts guru, but according to the year’s application, this is supposedly the correct one. Awfully low price, compared to what has been available in the past

Generator Kit includes a special deep cover for the junction box to house the regulator.

              Consider this one too. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Harley-12V-12-V … 0n&vxp=mtr

One important thing you need to remember is the regulator you need is for 10 AMPS. None of these parts guys seem to think that is important or that it matters. It does. BTW, in case you are wondering, no car regulator is for only 10 Amps.

The kit comes with the regulator mounted in the larger cover with the wiring attached. All that was necessary was to plug in the fuses into the holder already in the base, plug in the wires and screw on the new cover. The old covers were handy around the shop for holding small parts for motors waiting for parts. The surplus piled on the shelf were sometimes used in the showroom as ash trays. . . 😆

If you want to run the generator yes. If not, nope.

Can someone explain how to use the gauge (part 21) in first diagram? Also, any harm to the generator to spin with the motor, but not electrically connected to the regulator…but isolated ?

Not sure if I am highjacking…sorry if I am.

The gauge was for determining the height of the generator drive pulley and the need for shims under the pulley. Frankly, I’ve never seen a need to change whatever came with it.

It will not harm the generator to run it without being connected to the regulator. But it makes more sense to just remove the belt and save the wear & tear (and hp loss).

Before you ask, yes the generator does consume some amount of horsepower, but I’ll be darned if I could ever tell the difference.
