Bought this one for $75 with a broken recoil spring. Couldn’t test compression, but it looked clean so I took a chance. He threw in the stand, so I figured it was a good deal. Replaced the recoil spring, did the usual tune-up, carb rebuild, impeller, oil change (seals were good) and took her for a test drive before investing in paint and decals. Motor runs like a top – couldn’t have been any better when new! So I went ahead and did the paint and decals. Here are a few pics. Now I hate to run it! Don’t want to damage the new paint!

Your motor is too nice to be a sawhorse queen and needs be used and shown off as it was meant to be!
April 11, 2017 at 4:25 pm #55905are those evinrude letters good old stick ons ?
they actually don’t look that bad and may offer a half decent (cheap) solution to expensive decals for non-purists

April 11, 2017 at 7:39 pm #55910Vinyl stick-ons – unfortunately, I didn’t realize the backgrounds were not clear, but colored. And the colors don’t quite match the OMC factory paint colors. Next time I’ll stick with NYMarine.ca

What paint did you use for the dark blue "commodore blue"?April 11, 2017 at 9:51 pm #55918quote fleetwin:Boy, that is beautiful, wish I could paint like that…
What paint did you use for the dark blue “commodore blue”?Yup, Commodore Blue, along with Polychromatic Blue and Aqua White – all Reprotint rattle cans.
April 11, 2017 at 10:01 pm #55920Cool, I bought a can of commodore blue from Reprotint, but haven’t tried it yet. I get so discouraged with most of the supposed matched colors I have tried, they tend to be a tad dark and take on a maroon-ish tint…
