Took the boat out again today and it ran perfect in all ways except I had to prime the carb with fuel before it would start. Mind you I didn’t run the battery dead trying to start it but turned it over a lot. Squirted a little fuel in the carb and it started immediately and ran perfect the rest of the day. Fuel pump? Carb? Any suggestions. Thanks
Hate to ask the obvious, but are you saying that the primer bulb won’t fill the carburetor? There must not be anything wrong with the fuel pump or carb because, a you say, it ran perfect all day.
The primer bulb is pumping fuel to the carb and firms up fine but it doesn’t matter choke no choke hi idle low idle position just can’t get it to start that 1st time without spraying fuel in the carb. Doesn’t even try to hit at all.
If you are using the electric choke button, do you know if it’s really activating the choke? If in doubt, manually choke it to see if that is the problem.

Ok I took the boat out again and same thing had to splash the carb with fuel mixture before it started the it ran perfect. So when I got home I took the hood off . Then the screen/baffle from top of carb. There is a small linkage missing that controls the choke and closes the flaps. Looked up the carb on marine engine site. It’s hard to tell what goes to where from the diagram but looks like maybe the choke control was missing. I’m hoping that was the right part, that’s the one I ordered anyway thanks for the suggestions
