ok motor runs great and this problem never happened before when i was out on the lake yesterday i turned motor off and was messing around with my trolling motor well went to restart motor and it was flooded and leaked lot’s of gas out it was 92 and sunny it never did that before so i think the problem is the pressure tank is getting to much pressure built up and pushing gas out carb doesn’t do it when it running only when it is off so every time i would turn motor off i would open cap on tank and de-pressure it and problem solved is there a valve on tank that should be letting the pressure out if it gets to much or is that normal for a pressure tank style motor.

Might be slight imperfection in needle/seat, small bit of debris, etc…

The sun can build a lot of pressure in a tank, just sitting. I crack my cap as well, just ensure to tighten before running.

Relief valve is totally automatic. It limits the amount of pressure in the tank. Your problem most likely is the float valve or the float itself, in the carburetor. New float valves have a soft tip which helps stop that. Yeah, I know, some people don’t like the new ones. But they work for me.
