Hello everyone,
So glad I found this forum, I’ve tried searching the forum on my question, but couldn’t find the exact answer.
I’m in the process of restoring a 1959 Crestliner Voyager 15, that came with a 1959 Johnson Super Sea-horse motor.
Lots of original parts to the boat and the motor.
Here is my question/confusion.
what is the difference between the model numbers?
I’m going to grab a parts catalog, but don’t want to buy the wrong one, or have to purchase two.
RD-RDL-21
RDS-RDSL-21I’m guessing, but I think the “S” stands for either Electric Start, or Salt Water, but as I said, I’m guessing.
Any info from the veterans of the forum is greatly appreciated.
Here is two pictures of the paint, and no paint, really looking forward to learning and completing this project.
Thanks in advance

I searched and tried to figure this out for way to long, you saved me a full night of searching.
I had a few other “guesses” but didn’t want to be even more of a newbie
Thank you!!

April 29, 2021 at 10:13 am #237377If you haven’t already found it, there is a website for old Crestliner restoration. Unfortunately, the message board there went bad in February and the moderator has no plans to fix it – told me the software is no longer supported. The rest of the site has great info, and you can still read old message board posts, you just can’t make new posts.. Find it at: http://www.retrocrestliner.com
I have three 1950’s Crestliners – great boats!

April 29, 2021 at 10:23 am #237379Yes, I’m very familiar with retrocrestliner, it’s a wonderful site and the pdf’s of the catalogs is a great resource.
They are migrating to a Facebook page in August is what the mediator said to me.
Grew up with an old 50’s Crestliner, love these old boats, and the motors too.April 29, 2021 at 11:37 am #237385Yes, there were two different styles of 35hp, most of the differences were in the motor cover….The base model did not come with electric starting and had a tiller handle/throttle control…The “deluxe” model came with electric start and did not have a tiller handle.
