      Help, I’m stuck. I separated power head from lower case to replace water pump impeller on my 1959 Merc 6A. I have not separated the lower gear housing assembly from the upper drive shaft housing. I can stab driveshaft and snake control cable back up thru power head but I can’t figure out how to reassemble power head and lower assembly to correctly ensure the water tube is installed correctly. What is sequence of steps I need to perform to correctly reassemble? Thanks for any advice.

        When I put my lower unit back together it was all stripped
        apart. I had the motor upside down on the work bench
        putting parts back on at the bottom of the power head,
        and working my way "up" to the prop. Not sure what
        the manual says, but it worked for me.

          Thanks for info and pic. I figured that I need to disassemble lower to allow correct assembly. I’ll give it a try…Thanks
