Just picked up a 1960 Elgin 12hp, was wondering if anyone has a parts breakdown for it.

I have a ’57, and found a parts listing online, probably for a ’58. Also found a West Bend service manual that generally applies. I can try to find the links if you need them, or email them to you.

I have a parts list for a 1959, model 571-58801. I’ll share it with you if it will help. Send me a PM with your e-mail address.

Scott-McCulloch and West Bend both built Elgin branded motors for Sears in 1960. Here’s where the model number is going to come in handy.

Here’s some general information for the SM version.

The model number looks to be 574.601??, I believe this makes it a Scott-McCulloch ??, not real familar with these, just picked it up as a change of pace.

Mumbles, the link you gave seems to cover it pretty good

                  Bob,

Did you score that one in Orient? I like the looks of that motor!

                    Hi Dave,

That would be the one. Cosmetically it is pretty good, haven’t really had a chance to check it over yet to know what kind of shape it is in. One of those deals where I don’t really know why I picked it up, was just something different I guess.

One weak point on these motors is in the area where the tiller mounts. You might want to check it for cracks before getting too far into it.

Thanks Mumbles, I will make sure and check that area.
