You need a rubber based adhesive that holds the spaghetti seal well till you get the tip and screws in place. Remember you are going to take time to line up the shift screw also. You want to cut the spaghetti a little long at the rear seal holder so you form a good seal where that area butts up. You need a good aggressive adhesive that will hold the seal to you get everything in place. 3M 847 is the choice by most!

Yeah I have never tried Yamabond, but believe it is an equivalent.

As stated above, when you cut your spaghetti seal, cut it with a 1/16" overhang, to ensure that it buts into the housing for the prop shaft seal. Not too long though, or it will buckle. Push the seal to the outside of the groove, before you cut off the ends.

Thanks guys! If I can find some 847 when I go to the big city, I’ll
pick up some. Automotive stores carry it, or do I have to find
an OMC dealer? Could order some, but rather not wait that long.

          Prepare to be boarded!

The dealer will have it. I have seen it in stores like Fastenall.

It is a great product if you are going to be doing more motors. Crank halves, resealing gearcases, sealing the impeller plates down, many uses.
