Check to see if the gear ratios are the same. I would expect they are different.

I think the FDs and QDs pre 1958 used the same gearcase/same ratio, there was a smaller pitch prop for the 10hp application though….
So, he will have to find a different prop I’m sure…

He’s talking about a 1960 QD – not sure what year FD.

Yes, the original engine was a 1960 QD with the small gearcase…
He is attempting to take the QD powerhead and bolt it up to an FD leg and gearcase…
The prop from the small QD gearcase won’t fit the FD leg, at least I don’t think so…And, the prop from the FD leg is probably too large in pitch because it was used with the FD 18hp powerhead…
So, he will have to find the small pitch prop that was used on the QDs with the larger gearcase…
Yeah, all this is confusing, hope I’m not the one that’s totally mixed up…

              I don’t considered the prop a problem.

              I think i can easily find a QD pre ’58 prop, or a modern Fastwin 9"x9" .

I’m now verifying if I can solve the lid problem using shorter lid support dampeners…
