Before I go spending more money I wanted to check with you all.  When I thought my engine was ’61, I ordered a new nozzle for the carb because a little piece of the brass was deformed and chipped when I was taking the old one apart.  The ’61 nozzle is a different part number and is about 1/4″ shorter than the 1962.

I had the engine running in a barrel yesterday.  I was able to find a sweet spot just before it got too lean and got it to idle for a long time.  It was a little wobbly/rough at the lowest idle.

I still get a little fuel dripping from the front of the carb.  Not much but a drip every now and then.  It was worse before but I reset the float and cleaned it out again.

Could a shorter nozzle also contribute to this?  Should I put to old one in even if the slot is deformed and damaged?

I have a faint recollection of a service bulletin concerning the nozzle.  But don’t remember it, and it probably would take me forever to find it—if I even can.  Anyhoo, I doubt the chipped/slotted end will have any effect.

pump the fuel bulb… if  fuel  spills out the carb the  float/needle set up is in need of adjustment  jmho

Thanks, I put the original nozzle back in and it seems to run a better.  If I turn the idle all the way down it stalls, but otherwise it seems  pretty happy.  Starts right away and no drips from the carb this time.  Now I just need to finish rewiring the boat and test her out on the water. Thanks again for the info on the nozzle.
