I’m certainly not an expert but it sure looks right to me.

Bob DAugust 30, 2021 at 4:05 am #245759It looks right (I think). By “rear butterfly”, do you mean the choke butterfly or the throttle butterfly?
August 30, 2021 at 1:12 pm #245789Frank ,I mean the throttle butterfly.
When you pull the long flat brass choke rod manually, it actuates the small lever on the left of the rear of the carb body, which opens the throttle butterfly about 1/4”.
It doesn’t seem like the electric choke has a provision to do this, in addition to closing the choke butterfly?
I checked the 1965 33 HP electric choke on Marne engine, and they have eliminated the small lever on the rear, so I guess it my choke conversion should work ok, even without opening the throttle butterfly a crack on startup?
Thanks,
Bob DAugust 30, 2021 at 1:20 pm #245793your controls will open the butterfly.
August 30, 2021 at 1:43 pm #245794Correct, bob. The electric choke does not crack open the throttle butterfly. No need to, with the faster electric cranking speed
August 30, 2021 at 1:51 pm #245795Interesting, thanks Frank.
September 2, 2021 at 10:56 pm #246006A great post doing same thing to a 1970 22ci 25 hp Johnson and this answers most of my questions. Except my Johnson manual start had no provisions to operate the throttle butterfly either but I have an 18 hp evinrude 1965 that has linkage to do so it was manual start as well. However I understand there was a bit of a switch in design somewhere between 1969 and 1970
