1965 Sea King (Chrysler) 9.2HP Prop Shaft seal R&R

I must replace the prop shaft seal on my 65 Sea King 9.2hp.

I removed the “C” clip retaining the prop shaft bearing carrier.

How do I remove the bearing carrier from the lower unit? I think the two 1/4″ x 20 screws in the photo are to be screwed into the carrier and once bottomed out, they will push the carrier out. Or, should I use a puller and attach the puller screw to the shaft bearing carrier and draw down the puller against the prop shaft itself?
