Could somebody please tell me how to remove all the cowling and fuel tank from a 1966 Johnson 3hp Fisherman outboard?

the stuff is all held in place with bolts and a fuel line to the carb…. unscrew  or disconnect the fuel  line  after  shutting the fuel valve .

        remove  the rewing starter bolts

some  lower cowls   has side bolts  holding  it in on.    did you remove  all of them

the mounting frame  is also bolted

For your Johnson JW, it’s easiest if you remove the tiller handle first, which is held on by two bolts or screws.  Once it’s out of the way, you can remove the screw up front holding the carry handle together and then the four screws (blue)  holding the cowl on. The rear screws  only need to be loosened as the cowl is slotted here but the fronts need to be fully removed. Once they are out, the cowl can be slid down and removed.  Then the fuel line can be undone from the shutoff tap (red) before removing the four bolts (green) holding the tank on.  Your choice if you want to remove the starter but there are only three screws on top holding it on. Evinrude Lightwins are a bit more work as the fuel tap has to be turned to line up with the opening in the cowl and they have four screws holding the starter on.
