I have a rebuild kit for a carburator off a 1967 9.5 hp evinrude. When removing the aluminum plugs to clean out the ports I ran into a plastic piece close to the idle adjustment screw. Unable to remove this piece to clean out the ports, the three little holes for Idle. It will not move and I know there is some blockage behind this insert. Anyone know how to remove this insert???????????

Is item 57 what you are referring to? I seem to remember this strange plastic filler piece but don’t know much about it….
          Frank will know…

It is called a "Filler Plug" OMC #0312909. It is talked about in this thread:

The later version 9.5’s used them. Most likely you will destroy it getting it out….and will have to order one; as they are not included in the carb kits.

Ordered a replacement filler plug. Whats the preset on the low speed idle adjustment. 1 1/2 turns out or more??
