I am hoping to find out if repair of the pick-up assembly for a 6 gallon fuel tank from a 1968 Fastwin is something one can get a part or kit for, rather than replacement. I have not utilized Photobucket or such to post a picture of the tank here, but this is a link to the same appearing assembly: https://www.etsy.com/listing/114552782/ … n-6-gallon
The issue is that a small leak exits the small valve shown in the upper right, and covers much of the fuel tank with a thin coating of gasoline (this is occurring when the fuel tank is just a little over half full). Are there available parts to correct this, or does one need to replace the pick-up assembly, which appears to cost around the cost of an entire new plastic fuel tank?

      Thank You In Advance,
      Joe

That link just saved me from a whole lot of typing. And it is right on. The only caution would be that the earliest version of the tank use a different size o-ring around the pin (be sure to scroll to the bottom of the link page). Both versions are very small, and unlikely you will find them at the corner store.

The early single line tanks in the late 1950s/early 1960s had a 2-way vent on that little pin the gas line connector pushes and these did let out gas when the level in the tank was high or when it sloshes around a lot in waves. Maybe your tank is an older one like that. I’m not sure just what year these were changed to a one-way valve, (someone here should know) but I know 1969 was one way because I had one. Dad bought a new 40 Johnson in 1960 and this was a problem from day one due to the design.
