I have a 1970 Johnson 25 hp model 25RL70E.I bought the carb kit from M.E in the kit there is a little white plastic called needle valve bearing. When I took the carb apart this was not in there. My question is how far is  this suppose to slide on?   It only goes on about a half inch I no the needle valve has to screw into the threads.Does this needle valve bearing not go in this carb? There are three small o rings and a fibre washer not sure.Would sure appreciate some guidance.Thank you,

You are referring to item #28?

What they refer to as a “bearing” is actually a seal.  This carb does not use the conventional packing and nut to seal the low speed needle, it uses this soft plastic sleeve to seal around the needle.

The old one is probably still inside the carb, buried down by the mixing pocket.  I’m thinking if the old one is there, I would just leave it.  These things can be tough to fish out of there…

There is nothing  in the mixing pocket. The new one will not fit in the the front oft he carb.

Cool!  This can be very confusing because it is tough to determine if the seal is in place by looking inside the threaded hole for the low speed needle.  Like I say, this little rubber/plastic cup is what takes the place of the older style packing and nut.   So, if you have an engine that won’t idle consistently, or you just can’t seem to make it rich enough to idle, good idea to make sure this pesky seal is in place.
