      need help replacing, rewinder spring gear assembly, does it drive the motor after you pull the rope? I did not take the unit apart, did not see motor when it was together???

        ??Drive the motor after you pull the rope?? No, the gear swings up to engage the flywheel as you pull the rope, then retracts back down as the rope retracts

          Hint: Don’t forget to put the flat washer in the cup, or it will bind up when you assemble it to the motor.

            Yeah, this little starter is delicate and a pain to work on. Make sure all three white plastic bushings are in place as well, two on the pulley, one on the outer cap. You might want to inspect/replace the rope while you are at it.
            Take your time, ask questions, and post pictures if that will help us help you….

              That was not an easy fix, it would of been better if I was the person removing the re-winder. with out the help of the members I would of still been working on it. I had the spring installed incorrectly, that is why the gear was engaging at the wrong time. Thanks to all for your help!!!!
