      Hello all, My son purchased a nice running 1971 Merc 200 20hp, When you fill the gear case oil it leaks out of the water intake? Any suggestions? Possible shift shaft or driveshaft seal. I have good knowledge of OMC motors but never worked on Merc. Thank you in advance Dave Hershey PA

        That doesn’t sound right, but it may have a bad seal or internal crack. I would drop the lower unit and have a look. Just to weed out the aaaha moment, there is the oil screw in the front of the lower unit with a vent somewhere above it and the oil is conning out the multi holes about center on the sides.

          Thank you, will drop it today, This is what the guy we got it from said so no telling what we will find. Got it super cheap. Thanks again
