I’m hoping someone here can explain or offer an assembly drawings on how to correctly hook up the shifter linkage, if you will, on a 1976 sea king 7.5 hp outboard. You have the drive shaft, a retaining ring, washer…i actually have 2, a spring, and the coupler that meshes with the power head to propel you. Somehow that coupler sits or rides in a U-shaped style bracket that engages and disengages that coupler from neutral to forward and vice a versa. I can’t figure out how to put it together so it works right. I can use all the help I can get, thanks, cweklund

That seems to come in two sizes – too big and too small – but still useful . . . 😕

Thanks retiredoz and Garry in Tampa, I really appreciate your guy’s response. I’m trying to figure out how to upload some pics now. I actually need the top of the lower end drawing and the lower end of the power head. If your drawings are of that assembly it doesn’t look like what mine has. Let me try to upload some pics. Thanks again, Cody

Model # ? There should be a Ksomething number on the steering bracket somewhere. What I posted is for a full-shift 7.5-hp, which is way different.
I should have a drawing of the forward/neutral setup, I think there was only one version.
How sure are you it’s a ’76 ? My American motor bible doesn’t list any Sea KIngs between ’68 and ’78. Doesn’t exclude the possibility of some Canadian interloper..

The K751 was produced ’76-80. I have a sketch, pm me your email, and I can send it.
