my name is Chris C and I own a 1977 60 hp mariner….it runs great except i blew out the lower unit etc….evidently that was a inherent design flaw in this motor…I called Hildebrands in cold water mi, and he says the lower units he has, for said motor cost $800 + etc…like i said the powerhead runs great (as Hildebrand said he has shelves of working powerheads ) but i do not have the resources to put that much money into just a lower unit…my goal by being on this site is to A) try to find a buyer or B) get some ideas on what to do….If it comes to it I will try to part it out and sell some parts on ebay and just melt the rest down…However those solutions kill me,because like i say, it runs great and i would darn near give it away…i just hate to destroy working machines…thanks Chris..
