I was looking at my 1989 OMC 9.9-30 hp repair manual,it mentions a Kero model and how to test a check valve, looks like it was in the bypass cover. What is and how does this model differ, does it run on Kerosene? This manual also lists 9.9 AND 10 hp models separately, which i thought is odd. Maybe some of these were overseas export models.

Spark ignition engines can run on kerosene, but not cold start on it. So they generally have a small gasoline tank for starting, a fuel changeover valve, and a means of draining the carb. Also, usually, more heat to the manifold and reduced compression ratio. I’ve seen tractors and small engines set up for kero, but never knew about outboards.
