I had to disconnect my throttle linkage to change both the exhaust port and head gaskets and no I don’t think it is working properly. When I turn the handle it only seems to open the butterfly valve on the carb part way. The part (not sure what it’s called) that contacts the throttle on the carb seems to make little contact with the throttle. I hope I have adequately explained this. Model number is E8RCIC. Thanks. I compared it to 7.5 I have of the same vintage and the 7.5 contacts longer and the throttle opens more.

OK, so you had to remove the throttle cable clamp screw to remove that exhaust manifold, so I am thinking you didn’t get the cable linkage correctly reinstalled…
Post some pictures of what you have.

Not sure exactly how to attach photos to this site. Also Fleetwin if I can figure it out what do you want a photo of?

Perhaps I can just explain it better. There is a plastic adjuster at on the linkage but even spun all the way to the end it is not moving the throttle enough.

If you look at the 2nd picture you can see the butterfly is not open all the way compared to the 3rd picture on the other motor.

I get the feeling there is something we are not seeing because the starter is in the way . . . 😕

I would like to see how the link between the cam follower and the Throttle valve arm is set up. . . 🙂

OK, this simple linkage confuses me all the time also…
Did you remove the plastic threaded collar from the throttle cable for any reason? If so, I believe you reinstalled it backwards….The threaded collar is offset, and it looks like you have the offset facing the wrong way. Unthread it off the cable, then flip it over, then the offset will be facing the mag plate linkage and will advance it farther….
PS: What is all the metal dust showing in one of your pictures from???

Okay I think I know what you mean Garry you need to see the other side of the carb. I’ll try to get that picture and post it. I don’t remember messing with that aspect of things but maybe I did. Let’s have a look anyways.

I don’t remember unthreading that plastic collar Fleetwin but it is possible so I will look at that also. And to answer your second question I’m not sure the 2nd picture is of a parts Motor I picked up for free years ago and have never gotten around to really looking closely at aside from that it has spark and compression. Something grooved into the side of the flywheel while it was running and shot the metal flakes all over it. I’ll try to get a picture for you to see what I mean just for fun.
