I may rebuild this carb . Manual says to use an omc float gauge to set the float drop. is this necessary or is there a plan B alternate method ? If definatly required where do I get one? thanks

I strongly recommend the gauge! Makes things a lot easier/quicker/better quality! I can’t tell you how many motors I pull apart to find the floats set at the wrong height. Some are more forgiving than others, but the newer 25/35hp motors are very temperamental if the float is set wrong!

Thats why i ask, want to do it right the first time. The other carbs i’ve done, manual states turn the carb upside down and adjust the top of the float even with the carb body.
I’m on it and will get a gauge.I will heed your "strong recommendation" johnyrude. Thanks

When we’re talking about the 60’s, that ‘level float with inverted carb’ works fine with anything below the 9.5 line. The 9.5hp motors are EXTREMELY temperamental about float height…and anything like a speck of dirt.

Crowleymarine.com has it for $14.99 and cheaper shipping. I may order one!
