      Hi. Is there a check valve in the primer bulb ? or elsewhere? My 40 HP loses prime

        Yes the primer should have a check valve. Remove hose from engine end of primer. Squeeze primer then block open end with finger. If primer does not stay flat, check valve not working. Replace primer

          Ok Thanks I have to pump the bulb every time to start the motor!

            Also check the hose for a hairline crack – one that will let air in so that the fuel drains back to the tank. Doesn’t have to leak fuel, just air. Been there and had that to happen.
