Turn out for the meet was light due to weather forecasts. Weather was amazing. For those scheduled to attend and didn’t….you missed it.
River was extremely high with flooding in certain areas. The boat ramp where we launch was drastically reduced in size by the high water. Very little debris floating downstream. Almost no Sturgeon jumping.
All in alll a great meet. Our first run up river, on Friday, was a 60 mile (by GPS) run. A lot of boats started but three made the entire run. Saturday a normal run up to the 27 bridge and then to the RR bridge was made with more boats and folks able to complete that one. That is a regular run and comes out around 30 miles. Check out the "wake" left by the RR swing bridge in the video. A distinct depression in the water level is seen on the downstream side of the pivot.April 20, 2016 at 3:29 pm #35135That super sea horse sure looks nice, did you refinish it?

I live in Northwest IndianaApril 20, 2016 at 10:03 pm #35150Fleetwin – No……original finish…..that is the one I started a thread on a few weeks ago. Guy brought it by the dealership in the back of a pick-up wanting to sell it. Came from Texas and belonged to his girlfriend’s father. A few unexpected and expensive things wrong with it but all in all one heck of a good investment. One of the, if not the best, running engines I have had the pleasure of bringing back into service. Relaxing (on the ears) to run this one. Will swing a lot of pitch in a two blade so the cruise numbers look very good and switching out to a 3-blade and kicking it out a notch gives superior performance when carrying an extra person plus load. This engine will see lots of hours of usage. It saw right around 100 miles of running at this meet and Lesa and I ran it around 40 miles or so on it’s shake-down cruise. Hasn’t missed a beat.
April 20, 2016 at 10:33 pm #35152Ah, Pappy? That two blade prop was carrying a three man load! I am two people (300 lbs = 2-150lb men) & you. Your boat did a great job of hauling my carcass around. I haven’t gained all my weight back (347.5), but on holiday from losing at the moment. I had forgotten how much quieter the Super Quite models are. Of course we ARE practically deaf!

….and you caught George showing off his hand saw skills!
Love that 58 Johnson. I have one myself I need to get running. A friend runs one on his 51 Feather Craft Vagabond. Runs great. I like how they spit steam and water.
