      Not that claim to know everything, because I simply don’t – but "in my past experiences" the only way to prevent cracks from spreading in cast iron was to drill and pin at the end of the fracture, such as I’ve seen done on rare Ford FE Tunnel-Port cylinder heads, which had a habit of cracking through the valve seats. Not sure if that is what Slim’s son has in mind or not.

      Good luck in your attempt to save the original hub, if somebody has a go at it.

        In our brief conversation he did mention drilling a hole. we’ll take a close look at it tomorrow.
