25 hp parts compatibility?

I’ve got a 1969 (probably, tags missing) 25 hp Evinrude missing the hood and a bit of other stuff.

I have a line on a 1973 25 hp parts motor, but am not very clear on what these have in common. Will the hood fit? The generator bracket?

Thanks for any guidance.

Hood is very different. What generator? If you mean starter bracket, I suppose it will fit (without having one in hand to compare). Besides the hood, the magnetos are different. ’73 has the beloved Lo-Tension mag.

Yes, meant starter bracket. Thanks. I thought the hoods were different but it’s not clear from the marinengine.com illustrations.

I imagine the hood from any 1961-1970 18hp will fit the 1969 25hp "pan"

I seem to recall the "leg" (exhaust housing) changed at some point, not sure if that effects what pans will bolt up….
