A "Boathouse Repair" is one thats done without having tools or the skills to do it properly.

Welcome Wayne!   If you are going to mess around with old outboards you might need to learn to make your own gaskets.   There are some good tutorials on utube.  Mister tubs is a master gasket maker among other things and his videos really helped me.   Head gaskets are the biggest problem.  Many Pre 1950’s motors do not have head gaskets so usually jug and manifold gaskets are not that hard to make.  Practice makes perfect!   You need a set of hole punches, maybe one of those tools to punch holes in leather, sharp blades and some patience.

Tubs, I’ll have to keep that guy in mind.
Sounds like he’ll make gaskets for just about
any motor, if he has a pattern I suppose.
I wonder about head gaskets?

He offers quite a few models. I suspect he would be willing to
make sets for other models to add to his offerings. He seem to be
mostly Pre WW-II where most cylinders didn’t have removable heads.
