I have a model 574.60021 3.5HP Elgin. This is a Scott built engine. I think it is from the early 60’s I need a carb overhaul kit. The fuel shut-off is sticking which prevents fuel entering the float bowl. Can anyone direct me to a source of parts for this engine ?
I also need some help in cleaning the gas tank, It is a steel tank with evaporated gas residue and rust. Anyone have a good cleaning solution ?

      Thanks

      John

Cleaning the shutoff should solve that problem. If the carb is a Tillotson check with Russ Larsen, Martin leader.

Clean the tank with household ammonia. Let soak a day or so with some small screws and nuts in it and agitate occassionally.

The rust can be removed with Evaporust from Harbor Freight stores.
