      any clues as to preloading the spring and replacing the starter cord ❓

        In Garry’s Dropbox, there is a KIEKHAEFER manual that covers 1940 to 1965, Section 7 is about starters. Hope this helps.

                UPDATE….

                just a short note to thank you all and…David Barlett for that documentation section VII

                I got that rewind spring and cord installed in a jiffy.

                very simple procedure when you know how. 🙂

                I do not do Merc’s very often but I am getting that book printed off and spring bound
