I was running my yachtwin in a tank and I used a heat gun to check the temp on the right side of the cylinders it showed a temp of 230. That seems way to hot to me. The pump was pumping in small squirts but I think its normal for that engine?
Anyone ever checked the cylinder temps with heat gun?

On a couple of my lightwins I decided to pull the exhaust cover and cylinder head in order to clean the various passages. Those passages are TINY! and it takes a bit of poking and probing just to figure out where all the openings are.

There is also a potential problem area where the water tube meets the powerhead; there’s a rubber grommet thing there with a 90 degree bend. All things you can check. See #12 on diagram.

Use your temp gun on the id plug as shown in the picture. The temps on the cylinder head cover and the exhaust cover are extremely hot. Yes those temps on the cylinder head(has some cooling) and especially on the exhaust cover can be greater than >200F

Are you sure you were checking on the "right side" of the cylinders, and not the exhaust cover?

Starboard is considered the ‘right’ side, and shows a green running light. The left side (facing the bow) is the port side and shows a red running light. The exhaust cover on that model will always show scorched paint

Yes I did check it on the starboard side. I will go through it and try to find the problem. Thanks guys !!

Sometimes the water tube will "hang up" on the water pump grommet, causing the water tube to bend into the drive shaft. This will eventually ware a hole in the tube letting water bypass the powerhead and go into the exhaust housing. It will still show some spray out of the tell tail outlet but the water to the powerhead is reduced. Replacing the water tube will entail pulling the powerhead.

I will take a look at that also.
