How do I set the coils correctly.
What is the Ft lbs for the flywheel nut?
      Thanks so much!

You set the air gap for the lamination to magnet gap. Essentially, you want them as close to the magnets as you can, without actually rubbing, for best spark. There is a mounting boss for the coil, with a flat side machined in it. Pull the coil out as far as you can, where you will not catch the bottom of the laminations with your finger nail, when running it up the flat side of the mounting boss.

There is also a coil locating ring you can buy from FR, which makes it easy.

When you install the new coils, take the darn mag plate off!

Don’t try to install the coil onto the little nub of wire. Take the mag plate off, install new wire if they are original and rotting. They rot internally, so you cannot tell until too late. Pull more wire through the plate than you need. Twist the coil onto the wire, pull rubber grommet over connection, then pull excess wire back through while attaching coil to mag plate. Then set the air gap, install wire supports, re grease the bottom of mag plate, etc…

Do not use too much grease, just a thin smear, or it will spray up and foul the points.

EDIT: Sorry, torque is 60 ft/lbs.

Thank you Chris, reading other post. Looks like I need to get some 7MM copper core plug wire.
