      So I’ve been building a 37 Sportsman from parts of a 37 and some of a 38.

The 38 had an aluminum torque tube and exhaust but the 37 has brass painted aluminum. Were these original or home made? Hard to tell…

        Hi Kev
Have the same unit I am doing now with spare parts of another, that I am sure you remember. My both tubes are aluminum; including my badly bent spare.

Perfect – thanks. Nice to hear I’m not alone on this one. I think sometimes I’d be happy with a garage full of the little singles. Post some pictures when you’re done please?

I had one of those motors. Sweet running motors too. Nice job fixing it up.

@ Boyd – Canada Post said 4-6 weeks Surface but I did some Googling and the times were all over the map. I just love their optimism.

Come spring I’ve got a 37 Waterwitch single, a J-80, a 39 Ace and the Sportsman – it might be fun to put them on a 12 foot boat and compare. IMHO the Sportsman is the nicest looking motor. The Witch is way cool but not as high a quality as the two ‘rudes. The J-80 is ok but it’s a Johnson after all…
