      1974 merc 4 hp is there any trick to removing the carb i made a start but there feels like there are hidden fasteners

          the nuts are hard to get at and  there isn’t much  room to access them   and  you needto turn them  by small increments  while pulling the carb body forward.   bit of a pain  but doable.

          remove the  choke   nd spring in front of the carb.  remember how it is  hooked up  before removal

          actually if you  just  remove the  idle tube on top , the  idle needle  and the  HS orifice  you can probably blast any  obstructions out without taking the carb out.

            To remove the choke, it is spring loaded, you need push it IN and turn enough to disengage the bayonet retainer
