They used different coils depending on serial number. Coils can be found on other models if sn is known.

Dosn’t the coil have a Pn? If not you take the serial # of the motor tag and look up replacement coil from your serial #. I get that right? Thanks. I’m new at this 4425 stuff. Learning curve ahead. Jim F

If your mag is the same as this one, the coils P/N is 580084. A very common coil used on the smaller Evinrude and Johnson motors.

Have you tried placing a want ad on the Free Classified section here?

The 1948 Sportsman coil is pn 375189 and the 1949-’51 coil is pn 580084. Turns out that they are interchangeable. They are in many motors such as some or all models of these: Evin Sportsman ’42-’51, Sportwin ’48-’51, Ranger ’46-’47, ’49 Sportster, Sea Kings many frrom ’41-’50, Hiawatha ’41-’48, Brooklure ’50, Sea Bee ’48-’50, Western Flyer ’41-’42, Royal 1A5 – 2A3, Bucaneer 1B10 – 1B9 – 2B7

TD Johnson may also be on that list too.

Check E Bay. Search the Internet for "horse shoe" coils. Give Dan Gano a call at Ganotech . That’s where I got mine.
                    These are not that rare.
