I have a Classic 45/50 that has had the power trim removed. How can mount and use this outboard?

You will need to put in a reverse lock lever, with its rod and spring, a tilt pin if it is not there now, and a reverse lock cam on the lower shift shaft. Tilt lock levers, too, if they had been removed….but usually they are still there.

My bet is that if you look your motor up by serial number range, you will see the standard tilt parts listed. Yeah, I guess shocks would make it look a lot better, although I’m not sure they are absolutely essential. If you find used shocks, make sure they just work stiffly in the up direction, as they should but are not half-seized up, like some I have seen.
