      Want to run a Merc 500 on a small fiberglass boat. Have a choice of a 1961 Merc 500 or 1963 Merc 500 with thru prop exhaust. Which is the best performing engine if both are tuned equally well?

        I like the 1963 better for the lower unit . just me I have the 35.
