      Can someone tell me the initial carb setting for the high and low speed needles? I just bought this one, it starts but won’t keep running. I also just got a 55 7 1/2 hp, same question. I haven’t tried to start the 7 1/2 yet.

        Same initial settings on both engines:
        High speed needle (bottom one): 3/4 turns out from gently seated
        Low speed needle (top one): 1.5 turns out from gently seated

        It is best to adjust the high speed needle first, then dial in the low speed second….It is best to make these adjustments on the boat the engine will be used on with the boat normally loaded after the engine is completely warmed up

          Thanks. It’s been a while since I had to set a carb up.
